The following is an analysis of some of the key concepts that I consider to be relevant to my practice of nursing and a discussion of how they relate, as well as, their importance to my nursing practice.

Health Promotion

Health promotion is one of the key responsibilities for any nurse, as he or she is expected to focus on finding alternative approaches through which to ensure that the quality of health services offered matches patients’ needs (Shonkoff, Boyce,& McEwen, 2009). In my case, I consider this concept as one of the key factors that defines my performance, as a nurse, considering that I have a key expectation towards promoting health my patients. The concept is likely to influence my approach towards nursing practice, as it will seek to create an advanced avenue through which to ensure that I deliver on possible expectations from my patients.

The concept relates to my nursing practice, as it builds on the generalized understanding of what I am expected to do as a nurse working within a health care environment. Ramchand, Ahluwalia, Xenakis, Apaydin, Raaen, & Grimm (2017) argue that nurses ought to understand the value that is placed on their ability to engage in health promotion, as this is a key responsibility that determines their engagement with the patients. Personally, I view this concept as being important towards building my professional position while ensuring that I am able to maintain overall progress in what I am expected to do, especially in ensuring that I achieve my nursing goals. The concept is important in my nursing practice, as it provides me with a stringent understanding of how I am expected to approach nursing cases while considering the influence that this would have towards promoting satisfaction among individual patients.

Patient Safety

The Nurse Code of Ethics supports the position that every nurse has a key role to play in ensuring that they promote patient safety while in a health care environment with the sole intention being towards advancing justification towards promoting positive health outcomes (Carayon,Wetterneck,Rivera-Rodriguez,Hundt,Hoonakker,Holden,& Gurses, 2014). From my perspective, I have always considered the concept on patient safety as being a key part in my practice, as it allows me to take full responsibility of my patients at all times. That means that I always focus on trying to ensure that my patients are within a safe environment that would advance their healing. Additionally, I always engage with my patients with the sole intention being towards ensuring that I am able to get a clear understanding of some of the key challenges that they are facing on issues such as safety.

Through such engagements, I find it much easier in adoption of the relevant measures and approaches that are likely to help create the expected environment for me to boost patient safety in a significant manner. The concept also relates to my practice, as it helps support the position that I am expected to build overall capacity to ensure that I serve as one of the key factors that determines the safety of the patients. The concept has provided me with a clear understanding that my role as a nurse should not only focus on health care services but should also focus on advancing expected safety standards. The importance of the concept on my practice is that I find it much easier in my position while trying to advance patient confidence in the quality of services that I offer as a nurse.
