Discussion 7:1

The shift towards effective and quality care has provided the need for consideration of both the physical and spiritual needs of patients. People living in remote rural areas in various countries have proved that, indeed, holistic medicine can be the best alternative treatment. This is further confirmed by the fact that they are healthy than most people using allopathic medicine. This has been credited to the healthy eating habits practiced by holistic medicine users. Besides, they also have enough exercise influenced by the manual work they do. However, allopathic medication is still effective, especially in cases that involve accidents and other traumatic injuries. This is because they can reduce pain faster than holistic medicine. Holistic medication is significant when it comes to matters touching the spiritual and mental needs of patients (Corp, Jordan & Croft, 2018). This is because it focuses its efforts on the cause of stress and spiritual disparity. Furthermore, people are adopting holistic and alternative medicine due to shortcomings witnessed in allopathic medicine.

Discussion 7:2

Allopathic medicine remains the primary medicine in the United States healthcare system. Healthcare providers utilize medication, surgeries, and even lasers to treat symptoms and diseases. On the other hand, holistic medicine targets the entire body of an individual. Unlike allopathic medicine, holistic medicine considers the whole body to attain optimal health. It recognizes the interdependency of the different body needs to achieve effective care. This implies that holistic medicine focuses much on the cause rather than the symptom. Recently, the health sector has started recognizing conventional, alternative, and complementary medicine. It is considered as integrative medicine, but only the medications with proven quality and effectiveness are integrated (Park & Canaway, 2018). Integrative medicine has been acknowledged for its approach that considers the causes of diseases instead of present symptoms.
