Globally, a high number of persons tend to seek medical assistance due to different diseases. The attainment of high-quality healthcare is among the central objectives of every health institution. The achievement of high performance in the hospital is dependent on various drivers, including access and cost of healthcare service.

According to Saver et al. (2015), high-quality care translates to the high performance of hospitals with data showing that hospitals classified with high performance provide quality services to patients. Nurses are the primary healthcare providers who by a large proportion, contribute to the definition of quality of healthcare provided in a hospital. Based on my experience in my current work station quality of care is a concern that the hospital needs to be addressed. Based on the quality feedback forms filled by the patients last month, it became evident that a significant number of patients were not satisfied with the quality of care that they received while at the hospital which is also supported by high readmission rate. Also, through my interactions with the various patients; many of them have raised concern over how the hospital is handling them, it is clear that the hospital has not achieved a high-performance healthcare system.

Further, the cost of health care has a direct relationship with the performance of the hospital where affordable healthcare contributes to high performance ( Carey, Zhao, Snow & Hartmann , 2018). A considerable number of patients have raised concerns about the cost of the medical bill charged. Also, according to the medical billing records of most health institutions, more than 40 percent of the treated patient were unable to clear their medical bills which is an indication that the cost of healthcare is a concern (John Hopkins Hospital, 2019).

In conclusion, the quality and cost of healthcare is a concern that affects the achievement of the high-performance healthcare system. These aspects, if not assessed objectively and methodically, can be detrimental to quality health care provision and administration.
