A leader must help other leaders and followers to see the best of themselves and by encouraging them and supporting them in their work so that they become emotionally positive. Additionally, a leader must demonstrate concerns and recognize employee efforts so that the employees are emotionally positive. To ensure that the followers are empowered, a leader should encourage them to participate in different activities so that they can have a sense of responsibility. After delegating responsibilities to the followers, the leader should recognize their accomplishments (Greco, Laschinger, &Wong, 2006). A leader should ensure that the followers are excited about their job and that they are committed to the goal and mission of the organization. The motivation of followers should come from within and therefore it is important for a leader to help the followers believe in what they are doing and know that what they are doing is consistent with their values.
Ethics is the moral principle that guides an employee’s behavior while doing an activity. A culture of ownership helps create an ethical environment since the employees feel that they have a responsibility for the performance of the organization. In so doing, people will feel a sense of autonomy and therefore focus on the needs of the company rather than what is required of them (Dent & Tye, 2016). The employees will work under minimum supervision because they believe in the course of the company. Creating a culture of ownership ensures that the employees believe that what they are doing is in accordance with their ethical values and therefore they are highly motivated in their work. When a leader creates a culture of ownership, the follower’s behavior is guided by ethical values and not by the laid rules and regulations (Dent & Tye, 2016). The followers give their best to the organization even when nobody is watching them since they have a feeling of ownership.
