In the Age of Information, it is increasingly important for individuals in the scientific disciplines to demonstrate critical ability in differentiating between legitimate science and pseudoscience. There are a number of factors that demonstrate why the article is a pseudoscience. To begin with, lack of testable claims on a given topic is a major concern in the practice (Stemwedel, 2011). In many cases, illegitimate science articles may present claims that fit with any imaginable set of outcomes that may be observed. There have been no known anatomical or histological basis for the existence of acupuncture points yet various individuals present it as a pain management intervention. The theory incorporated in the development of the research is an important factor to show the difference (Stemwedel, 2011). In pseudoscience, they are rather speculative while in legitimate science they are extremely well tested. The article used for this paper demonstrates the former case despite significant evidence of a systematic train of thought.

There are various ways in which Villines (2018) can improve his article as a measure of presenting data in a more scientific manner. To begin with, a clear theory should be used in which the four assumptions of acupressure points can be identified as valid. In this measure, the author will present utilize a rational and logical manner in the presentation of data on why each point was chosen. Secondly, the use of testable and critically reviewed evidence that support his various claims can be used in the article (Villines, 2018). This approach should be considered as a more valid and reliable source of data as opposed to claiming that various medical practitioners have reviewed the article and supported his claims.
