I would like to laud my colleague’s selection to discuss hypothesis testing as it presents a critical area in any research. Focusing on the area helps provide knowledge and clarification on hypothesis testing. She is correct to identify the two forms of hypotheses as these often represent the initial assumptions made by the researcher. It is further necessary to note that a researcher will opt for either the null or alternative hypothesis during the initial stages of research and ensure that the data collected and conclusions made focus on proving whether the hypothesis is true or if it is false. When data proves the hypothesis to be true, it is not rejected and when it is proved to be untrue, the hypothesis is rejected (Hoerl & Snee, 2012).
As my colleague identifies, it is true that both the null and alternate hypothesis will represent all possibilities even when the researcher opts for either of them.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
It is further interesting how Vickie relates hypothesis testing to social media and its role in the analysis of data on a large scale level. She shows how various multinational organizations use hypothesis testing through various social media platforms to help them gather the necessary data on issues of customer preferences and satisfaction. Her provision of such insight opens up the opportunity for other organizations which may not have considered hypothesis testing of various organizational aspects through social media.
Overall, my colleague presents a valid argument concerning hypothesis testing as it will help establish the validity of any statement. It is further appropriate that she brings in the forms of hypotheses as testing will be geared towards showing whether the selected null or alternate hypothesis by the researcher is true or untrue and thus rejected or not rejected.
