Introduction

The research in this application should lead to identification and introduction of these various factors in military weapons: First, a new mathematical model for determining optimal locations for storing various quantities of weapons to minimize the total transportation and set up costs, as well as the risks associated with weapon allocation. Second, a location-allocation problem to military case study and taking weapon allocation risks taken into account. This paper entails a precise and detailed critique regarding the issues mentioned above.

Facility Location Problems

The application majors on the location where supply takes place. The demand refers to a major factor in the determination of the military weapons. Among the suggested solutions to the problem include the introduction of new mathematical models and heuristics. Under location, other problems such as; capacitated and incapacitated problems, single and multi-facility problems, covering problems and median problems may arise. In covering of these problems, the author introduced critical distance coverage. The research paper failed to acknowledge technological advancement or development in different areas that could to the minimization of the high demand for supply of these weapons. Most of the areas affected by war or conflicts tend to develop defend mechanisms whereby new discoveries of weapons get discovered to aid in wars to come. The new discovered weapons may lead to curbing of the high demands experienced in different areas.

Overview of Military Optimization Problems

Military optimization problems include: mix weapon problem, weapon deployment problem, and sortie allocation problem, airlift problem. First , mix weapon problem deals with the usage of different weapons and application of various skills in war to win against the enemy. Instead of application of these various weapons and skills, a common a type of weapon could be used after the military officials get trained and acquire same skills hence the uniformity of weapon usage. Weapon deployment problem entails using of air crafts to secure a large location covered by the enemy hence massive killings. Apart from the aircrafts, the presence of new technological weapons such as missile and bombs show that the enemies could also get dealt with in a large numbers without the usage of aircrafts which entail high visibility that may alert the enemy.

Mathematical Problem

Location risks refer to the main subject under the discussion in this area. Here, the risks that may arise during the transportation and identification of a location that needs the supply of military weapons. Higher demands than the available stock to supply refer to one of the problems faced in weapon allocation. The mathematical problem research introduced a location- allocation ideology to deal with the supply of these weapons to those areas in demand (Cetinkaya & Haffer, 2018). The researcher never considered the impacts of new technology in such areas whereby new weapons got discovered hence the decrease in the demand levels of weapon supply. Production of these new weapons could also lead to reduction in the transportation costs of the weapons to very far locations.

Case Study

Case study entails attacking of a country by most of the neighboring nations hence the need to acquire additional weapons from the neighboring countries. Countries under such situations include Turkey, who went ahead to acquire weapons from other countries whereby they ended incurring large costs of transportation of the weapons .The research failed to discuss the causes of such conflicts and what could act as the solution. One of the solutions to avoidance of such situations include building of good relationships with the neighboring countries. Good international relationships aid in peaceful co-existence with the neighboring nations hence no conflicts. In addition, countries need to equip their soldiers with the new technological skill and how to apply them when using the newly advanced weapons. Strong and skillful military officials in a country enhance the safety of that particular country.
