The situation am familiar with in my planned area of work, which is to work with the oncology healthcare informatics team in future, is the quality of cancer care delivered to patients. In the recent years, the oncology department has focused towards improving quality of cancer care through implementing various methods to achieve this goal. This situation could benefit significantly from the application of statistics, which has become very critical in improving quality of care and health outcomes among patients.
The application of statistics will allow the oncology informatics teams to effectively interpret the scientific data collected in the health sciences and make use of the information to formulate critical decisions regarding cancer treatment and care. Additionally, statistics can be used to solve health challenges in the oncology department and use the application of statistical approaches to carry out research in the areas of oncology department. Moreover, application of statistics can be used to evaluate data that allows them to take complex issues facing the oncology department and utilize it to make vital cancer care and treatment health decisions. Consequently, the application of statistics may enable the oncology informatics team to conduct research that would offer important information thereby influencing change at the policy-making level. Therefore, application statistics could be very useful on oncology informatics teams because it would provide them with information to enhance quality improvements in the oncology department.
