Are Leaders Born or Made?

I was born with some leadership abilities and skills which can be developed through training to improve and make me a better leader. I have various types of interpersonal skills that top-level leaders are expected to display. For example, I have excellent listening skills, negotiation skills, and both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. I also show high levels of assertiveness which is also essential for being a great leader. These interpersonal skills are inborn in an individual but can be developed and improved through learning and experience to bring out a great leader. My technical and decision-making skills can, however, be developed through training and learning to enhanced my leadership abilities. Other than the interpersonal skills, top-level managers require technical and decision-making skills to become great leaders and these can be developed in an individual through learning and training ( Lussier & Achua, 2015 ). 

The specific leader role that can be displayed by an individual is the project leader where an employee is given an opportunity to take over the responsibility of a project and lead and influence others into successful completion of the project. This can always have a positive impact on an individual and provide an opportunity for one to develop as a future leader. A liaison role instance can involve an individual given the responsibility to coordinate and communicate with the two groups in executing a project by acting as an official between the two groups. Having an opportunity to liaison the two project groups can have a positive impact on an individual and help improve future leadership skills. A figurehead role instance, on the other hand, can involve a situation in which a manager inspires and motivate employees to feel connected to each other and to support the policies and decisions of an organization and to work toward meeting the goals of the organizations.
