The United States devised a bill of rights in the Second Amendment that protected ordinary civilians to keep and bear firearms, unconnected to the militia services, and to use the arms for traditionally lawful purposes like self-defense within their homes. Despite creating a considerable debate regarding the intended scope of the Second Amendment, it possesses some importance to the nation. As such, this paper provides arguments in favor of the Second Amendment and its significance to the country in upholding its meaning and value.

The Second Amendment was a primary justification that gave freedom to civilians to provide themselves with self-defense and transit from the scary standing army that was made of full-time soldiers ( Blocher & Miller, 2016) . As such, the people allowed to own fire arms were termed a well-regulated Militia. Before this, unarmed American citizens were unorganized, hence, faced attacks and could not fight back or have the capability to defend themselves. Therefore, the society needed to defend itself and be free without the whim of the standing army together with its generals. Moreover, the Second Amendment was of the opinion that if the government became tyrannical, citizens would be able to protect themselves from tyranny and remove the oppressive government and substitute it with a new one. As such, the country would be able to uphold its meaning and value of being peaceful in order to prosper.

Furthermore, America wanted the security of the Free State from the brutal leadership of violence and instability. It was only through fire arms that the country would be able to uphold its meaning and value by having the ability to fight for fairness. In the 18 th century, the political disagreements immensely affected citizens by attacking and enslaving them. The community was incapable of protecting itself as it entirely depended on nation guards to provide security, hence, the country suffered oppression in the hands of whites, especially the rule from England. Today, the effects of the Second Amendment are felt as people are encouraged not to leave their safety and security up to the police despite America being a safe country, hence, fire arms are significant.

In conclusion, the Second Amendment was and is still vital in upholding the values of freedom and self-protection among civilians. The citizens could fight for their lives, thus, saving the nation through the essential aspect of bearing fire arms. Above all, with firearms among individuals in the country, there was no reason to be scared of the standing army and oppression from the white’s violence and instability. Therefore, the bill meant freedom and defense to its people.
