Functions of Management

The management personnel are set in their respective positions to undertake the basic role of controlling. In this regard, the role of the manager is to create numerous processes that effectively monitor the success of the group led based on objectives and goals that have previously been established (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). The leaders in an organization are similar to the coaches in various sporting activities where the common motto is “Winners keep score”. This implemented view of leadership focuses on a major practice of being fully aware of the current level of performance and the needs of the group to achieve the goal (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). In this regard, the manager should have the ability to recognize significant deviations from the objective goal and offers the group members a corrective direction that will lead to successful accomplishment. While monetary gain is an important part of the goals and objectives of the organization, managers have to look at the bigger picture that will ensure consistency in performance, high levels of productivity, and minimize customer complaints (Tucker & Parker, 2015).

Impact of Leadership Style on Employee Motivation

The recommended style is the participative-democratic leadership which is a basic practice of sharing with the subordinates. The concept of sharing for managerial personnel usually involves the practice of taking time to interact with employees and develop a two-way communication (Khan et al., 2015). In this regard, leader should not only issue orders or instructions to the followers, but also encourage their input in the decision making process. In TravelAge Limited, this practice has a major impact in improving levels of motivation in the led group. Members of the team are likely to feel more recognized by the organization when they see some of the decisions they proposed being implemented. The leadership style will also improve the relations between management and employees, which could lead to higher productivity (Howard & Ulferts, 2017). In CanAir Limited, the implementation of the participative-democratic approach will effectively lead to engagement of the younger workforce in critical practices of the organization. This practice will help reduce turnover rates and turn want-away workers into long-term and loyal members of the firm (Richter, 2018).
