In the recent years, change has been taking place in the law enforcement sector. However, it has never been easy since a bulk of the management does not put up with failure. In the policing area, whether a new policy is being introduced, a course of action or new technology, resistance is usually experienced. The opposition is somehow reasonable because the law enforcement agencies work in an exceptionally fluid and varying condition in which the unforeseen and unlooked for occurrences are considered normal.
Rapid change in technology is one of the leading causes of change in the law enforcement agency. There have been changes in the way law enforcement agencies have been investigating crimes (Crank, 2014). The policing sector has increased the use of mobile technology to be in touch with the individuals they protect and react quickly to emergencies when they occur. Changes also occur in policing sector to increase awareness of shared values and to enforce a culture whereby the attitude, behavior, and influence of the administrators are in line with the organization policies and procedures.

Failure to adequately respond to an emergency as to when it has occurred can also lead to change in the policing sector. In this, the administrators fail to react appropriately to what is happening. Changes have also occurred to make the policing department more accountable for their services and the clients (Crank, 2014). Changes happen to make the officers more responsible for their course of duty and to it diligently. The performance gap is also a cause of change in the policing department. This is whereby some of the governmental objectives are not met or not being fulfilled. The changes are essential to bridge the gaps and to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the sector.
Lastly, the administrators and the public may exert pressure for change. When the initial plan is abandoned, usually change occurs. This is whereby a new idea or a new way of doing things have emerged hence making the initial notion inappropriate. When a crisis occurs, the law enforcement agency is bound to change to adapt to the crisis and to find a viable solution to the said crisis.
