Chevron Corporation is a multinational energy company whose headquarters are located in San Ramon, California. The company is known to be active in more than 180 counties, engaging its activities in energy-producing industries such as natural gas, oil, and geothermal energy industries. The company diversified in many areas which has made it one of the top companies in the USA (Mahony et al., 2017). These fields include; production and exploration of hydrocarbons, manufacturing and selling of chemicals, marketing refining and transportation of oil, and generation of energy.

Chevron has managed to be one of the largest companies in the world, it has been ranked position nineteen out of the 500 on the Fortune list. In its most significant areas, it sells an average of 3.1 million barrels of refined oil products per day. Other than the mentioned operations, the company has alternative energy operations such as solar, fuel cells, wind power, geothermal, and hydrogen energy which has greatly increased the company’s revenue (Mahony et al., 2017). Moreover, the company spends $ 2 billion on the acquisition and research of renewable energy.

The company collaborated with the US energy department to produce algae energy which is used as jet fuel. Currently, it is one of the largest geothermal energy producers in the world. The company’s revenue is approximated to be $142.72 billion, the operating income of $2.48 billion, income net of $ 9.195 billion, assets of $254.80 billion, and equity totals of $ 149.12 billion (Mahony et al., 2017). In order to measure performance, the company employs three basic metrics which are price-based metrics, cost-based, and quality-based metrics. The priced-based metrics help the company in ensuring that the suppliers meet the required prices, cost-based metrics monitor the cash outflow in the organization, and quality-based metrics ensure the required standard is met.
