Question 1
As the Director of Maintenance, addressing the complaints from my fellow heads of the department regarding issues of maintenance not being addressed in a timely approach is of great significance. This issue is essential because routine maintenance such as timely repair of faulty or broken equipment helps to increase workers safety, reduces interruption of performance due to failures and breakdowns, and reduces time wasted by workers while waiting for repairs (Walia, Huria, & Cordero, 2010). As such, designing an objective on how to address issues of routine maintenance is essential.
Objective: To manage issues related to routine maintenance and repair of equipment in a central manner (Walia, Huria, & Cordero, 2010). This objective entails a collaborative work between all the fifteen maintenance personnel and me in the company. Some of the maintenance personnel will be responsible for preventive maintenance which will assist in preventing breakdowns and ensuring that equipment is safe to use and operational in all the departments. These preventive measures will also guarantee the equipment’s reliability and accuracy, and minimize the cost of running, and it involves schedules for both maintainers and users, which indicates when to perform maintenance and a list of activities of maintenance for every item such as safety checks, cleaning and care, performance and functional tests, and maintenance tasks (Walia, Huria, & Cordero, 2010).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
On the other hand, other members of the maintenance personnel will be responsible for repairing the broken equipment. I will place a system for reporting breakdowns and faults, and users of equipment will be encouraged to report failures and faults as soon as they detect them. Immediately after reporting, simple repairs will be performed by the in-house maintenance personnel team. In cases of repairs that are more complex, external specialized maintenance team will be hired immediately to do the repairs (Walia, Huria, & Cordero, 2010). I will design one specific competent external repair team who can be reliable and efficient to respond to avoid delays.
Question 2
How to use Myers- Briggs Indicator to Improve Leadership Skills
By undertaking Myers- Briggs Indicator test, I and my subordinates will be able to understand ourselves better (Knowing who we are) including insights of we think, interact with other people, how we make decisions, the natural strengths we have, our motivations, and potential growth areas (Kumar, 2017). As such, this assessment will help me as a leader to develop valuable skills such as first, the ability to identify ways of leveraging my natural preferences as a leader and how I can stretch this preferences to perform outside the comfort zone to become an effective leader. Second, the test will enable me to learn how to capitalize on my preferences while at the same time learning how to utilize the opposite preferences of my subordinates when required effectively. Third, by understanding my subordinates better, I will be able to develop more great strategies of communication, greater influence with my team (subordinates), and give direct feedback (Kumar, 2017).
Myers- Briggs Indicator test can be used in many settings. For instance, administrators can apply it develop management strategies to enhance the productivity of staffs. To do this, administrators need to develop management strategies which center on the strength of employees and these include, first, focusing on planning and building team relationships (Kichar, 2018). Learning the different personality of team members acts as a platform to open up conversations and teach the team ways of communicating concerning both good and bad. Second, administrators can use the assessment to understand the differences, thus, helping team members to appreciate the contribution of a member to the team. Besides, the test can be used by an administrator to identify the culture of the team which assists in conflict and problem management among the team members (Kichar, 2018).
