Introduction

The article,  More Than 4 in 10 Americans Have Concerns about the Fairness of the Presidential Election, Survey Says,  describes Americans' confidence in the coming presidential elections. Rebecca Morin states that more than half of Americans believe that the November elections will not be conducted fairly. A survey conducted by Democracy Fund and UCLA Nationscape project reveals that approximately 46% of Americans are not confident in the fairness of the coming elections.

Summary

Approximately 46% of Americans, including party members and older voters, are not confident in the elections' accuracy and fairness. American citizens are highly concerned about the Postal Service's inability to get a grip on the surge of mail-in votes. Although President Trump voted by mail during the Florida primaries, he warned that voting by mail is more fraudulent than in person. The postal service has warned that it may not deliver all ballots in time, even if they are mailed back promptly. On the other hand, voting activists are worried about in-person voting due to the limited polling locations, long lines, and voting machine issues.

Democrats are worried about the Postal Service's inability to handle the mail ballot influx, while Trump casts his doubts on accepting the election results. The partisan gap is higher than Americans' confidence level on whether all people who want to vote will be able to cast their ballots. Similarly, there is a high gap in the confidence levels of younger voters and older voters. The current political level continues to create uncertainly among different groups.

Descriptive Statistics

The article uses frequency measures by sharing the percentage of Americans who are not confident with the accuracy and reliability of the coming elections. More than 36% of voters expressed their lack of confidence that all citizens desiring to vote cast their ballots. 49% of Democrats and 38% of Republicans are uncertain of the fairness in the coming elections. Similarly, 48% of Americans support Joe Biden while Trump received the support of 41%. Similarly, 56% of voters between 18 and 29 years and 42% aged above 65 years expressed a lack of confidence in the accuracy of the November elections.

Real-World Applications

Opinion polls express the perceptions of a given population towards a specific viewpoint. The statistics in the article are crucial in serving political communications on the need for fairness, reliability, and accuracy in the coming presidential elections. Poll reporting is important in political communication culture as an instrument of influence for media and politicians. The article applies to the significance of transparency and reliability of elections on voters.

Analysis

Rebecca Morin uses percentages to analyze the poll and reflect the proportion of a given population. Percentages accurately reveal mainstream attitudes and behavior towards the reliability of the November elections and the use of mail voting. The poll used percentages to standardize the unequal number of categories (Nardi, 2015, p.162). Therefore, the use of percentages is important in comparing opinions of diverse numbers of groups of society.

Conclusion

More Than 4 in 10 Americans Have Concerns about the Fairness of the Presidential Election, Survey Say  by Rebecca Morin, depicts Americans' opinions on the reliability of the November elections. Data from the survey reveals that 46% of Americans express their lack of reliability in the accuracy of the coming elections. The inability of the Postal Service to handle the high number of mail-in ballot boxes depicts the outcry of the public on election reliability. The article highlights the viewpoints of citizens hence reflecting a political communication culture that influences the public. Using percentages in the analysis facilitates the standardization of unequal categories and opinions of different groups.
