The criminal justice system has several agencies that have specific functions. Agencies of criminal justice are made up of; the prison service, the police probation service, the courts of justice among others. The criminal justice agencies have distinctive and separate functions, but they work towards getting to a specific goal. This goal can be termed as combating crime. The way the criminal justice is structured is termed as being fragmented, different in roles, and it is uniquely designed with the aim of correcting behaviours and making a country to be unique. This article looks at some of the criminal agencies and their missions (Clear et. al, 2018).

Prisons Service

The prison service works with offenders that have been convicted and who have been sentenced to some sentence that is custodial. The role of the prison service is to give a decision that is based on the judiciary wing by depriving the liberty of offenders by making them serve a sentence that has been offered to them. The role of prisons is to control and manage the behaviour of an offender in their full sentence period. It is normally heard that in many of the agencies there is the facilitation of and control of the mistakes that have been performed by offenders (Cronkhite, 2013).

Probation service

This is the other arm that has a special interest when it comes to the criminal justice system. This arm of criminal justice is important as it comes into play when an offender is being sentenced and when they are being released from prison. This criminal justice arm plays an important role as it has to make an offender is carefully integrated into society without many problems. The probation service is supposed to offer a rightful transition to offenders to allow the integration of society and have a life free from crime.

Courts of Justice

Courts are an integral part of the criminal justice. The help in the facilitation of available evidence to be put on trial and at the same time get tested for it to be in the standard that it cannot be doubted. Courts of justice are meant to offer aggrieved party equality as it should be without any unfair judgment. Courts of justice dwell on cases looking at the side that will offer a strong argument and, in most cases, it is the one that gets to win on the floor. Courts are meant to sentence those that have been accused by use of a clear law (Burnham, 2016).

Police

The police in the United States is decentralized, but at the same time, it performs its work as it should be. The police have a lot of work that they do like stopping and searching people. However, in some instances, the police have to do its work in line with the constitution of the land. This means that the police should be able to have search warrants for them to do their work properly. At the end of it all, the police should manage and control matters to do with crime (Cronkhite, 2013).

Conclusion

There are other criminal justice departments like the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the Criminal Defence Service among others. However, this paper has dealt with agencies that have a direct influence on an offender. Looking at agencies like the probation service, the police, the court's system, they have their work cut out as they deal directly with an offender (Buehler, 2017). All the mentioned agencies have an integral role in the country as they have to ensure the rate of crime is at low levels in the country. In criminal justice, the values and missions may be different, but the goals remain the same.
