For a long time, the term soulmate has been used to imply a powerful and overarching bond between people. The majority often associate the term with two members of the opposite sex showing signs of naturally deep affinity, love and intimacy (Laura, 2019). Yet, in today's psychology, psychoanalyst and psychology have attempted to account for the true meaning of soulmate, which entails the existence of an intense connection with a partner, friend, or family members regardless of the sexual identities (Laura, 2019). The film, Good Will Hunting exemplifies an ideal soulmate, after a lengthy period of unsuccessful connections ( Srundeng , 1977). Thus, the paper intends to review the Good Will Hunting films, highlighting Dr. Sean Maguire's perception of soulmate. It also addresses my personal concept of a soulmate, hence deriving a broader definition of the subject.
The chief theme of the film is revealed when Will Hunting's abilities are revealed. Although he is able to solve challenging mathematical problems, he is unable to connect or deal with his own ( Srundeng , 1977). Following the discovery of Will's abilities, Prof. Lambeau saves him from jail and entrusts him to Dr. Sean, the therapist.

Sean Maguire argues that no human is perfect, yet, despite the imperfection, two individuals can be perfect for each other. A soulmate is that who would open his mind to another to the extent of touching a soul ( Srundeng , 1977). Wills' childhood experiences of isolation and suffering are the main attribute to his nature of inability to form social connections. Maguire perception aligns with my personal perception, which views soulmates as someone able to connect with you physically, emotionally and spiritually naturally. Just from the Will, the connection primarily develops without having to work on the relationship just as Sean was able to find a way to communicate with Will.
