A leadership development plan is a strategic tool that helps guide one through professional and career development. As a tool, it helps in achieving career satisfaction, establish an impactful career, and have exciting challenges and opportunities. The tool further helps in voicing strategic professional development in addition to leading technical skills and competencies. This is my leadership development plan in which I will perform a SWOT analysis, establish my goals, and strategies. I will outline my objectives through the use of the SMART aspect in which I will create specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-focused goals.
SWOT Analysis
SWOT analysis as a tool and technique helps an individual or company determine their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. It stands for Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity, and Threats.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Strength
My first and foremost strength is my well-grounded education and global leaner. I am also a good team leader. I am proficient in both oral and written English. I am also a team builder and worker, able to collaborate with other people to achieve a set goal. I am a quick learner and able to grasp new information easily and quickly. I also have excellent reading ability. I read a minimum of four books in a week, an attribute that has dramatically sharpened my spoken English. I can concentrate on a given task at a time. I am also committed to getting things done and achieved according to outlined plan or strategy.
Weakness
I am easily sidetracked with irrelevant and unimportant things. I am also very strict with myself and I do expect to achieve my set objectives according to my outlined plan(s). I am also very anxious to achieve my goals and set on the next goals.
Opportunities
I do have very many opportunities to interact and communicate with others. I am in two prestigious team development clubs that I use to enhance my leadership and team-building initiatives. I do have a wide environment to apply my expertise and profession.
Threats
I have learned that individuals with excellent time management skills achieve more than I do in various fields of interest. I am not an excellent negotiator and often lose essential opportunities. A large number of leadership jobs do make the industry very competitive. Putting others before me has often denied me the chance to exercise reasonable caution in my engagement.
Short Term Goals
Short term goals are pursuits or objectives that I am committed to achieving within a given time frame, for example, three months or six months. These are objectives that allow me to continually check on my growth to confirm if I am undertaking my extension positively. They also help me focus on what is growth and necessary to be accomplished. Committing to a given objective makes goals strategies easier in comparison to establishing a vague vision. These are visions that touch mainly on personal goals, fitness, health, careers, finances, and a good life.
My three short terms goals include;
Improving my networking chances
Enroll in a fitness program
Develop a new positive habit every month
Improving my Networking Chances
I believe that networking does lead to successful ventures and opportunities. It also helps in developing one's career and further enhancing one's personality prospects. I will strive to meet new mentors and supervisors. I want to meet new leaders in various capacities from corporate leaders, student leaders, health leaders, political leaders, and young upcoming leaders in different youth groups.
Enroll in a fitness Club
Fitness is all about mental and physical health. It entails establishing a positive awareness and well-being while also practicing the best healthy habits such as eating well, cooking at home instead of eating in a restaurant, morning jogs, and winding down through meditation or yoga. I believe that enrolling in a fitness club will enable me to achieve my physical fitness by developing an exercise program. As a member of a fitness program, I will be in a position to maintain a physical exercise routine such as morning jog or taking up a hobby such as dancing.
Develop a new positive habit every month
I believe that habits create our lives and that our actions are derived from our habits. These are acts that are undertaken unconsciously through continual habit. Positive habits help us engage in positive activities that are beneficial to society and others directly.
Strategies to accomplish my short term goals
SMART
My first strategy will be to set SMART goals as I have listed them above. The SMART principle helps in making short term goals powerful and accurate. SMART denotes to;
S – Significant (Precise or Specific)
M – Meaningful (Measurable or Quantifiable)
A – Action-Oriented (Attainable)
R – Rewarding (Relevant or Applicable)
T – Tractable (Time-bound)
I will measure my progress by marking how long I have taken to make an achievement. Due to the significance of my goals, I will strive to take a proactive approach to achieve by, for example, ensuring that I report to the fitness club on time. I will also strive to ensure that my action pay-off by adding a new professional colleague to my networking circle. On enrolling in a fitness club, I will ensure that I keep a time-table of how and what time I report for my physical exercises. I will also ensure that I save time each day. To keep time, I will ensure that within the first three months, I will have achieved a remarkable physique.
Establish an Action Plan
My second strategy will be to establish a plan of action. My plan will be intricate and detailed. For example, in my first goal of improving my networking circle, I will list down the organizations or institutions and agencies with the leaders I want to interact more with. After listing them down, I will try and get any forum they may attend to enable me to interact with them on a direct basis. I will try my best to participate in the forum and meet them. Each week, I will have at least two forums to attend and meet my leader or group of leaders. I will reward myself each week upon getting a new contact with a leader whom I will be confident conversing regularly.
Instill Discipline
My third strategy will strive towards remaining disciplined all through my detailed plan. I will strive to make my plans and actions meaningful by strictly following up on each plan in accordance with my intricate details. I will strive towards keeping to my time frame and at the same time, remaining aggressive toward achieving my goal. For example, in enrolling in a fitness club, I will first note down all the best fitness clubs in town and getting to join in the best. I will strive to enroll in the best fitness club about reputation and integrity. I will ensure that by the second week after drawing my detailed plan, I will be enrolled in a reputable fitness club. At the end of each week, I will reward myself by purchasing a new sporting shoe. I will track my fitness by measuring my weight and muscle gain each week to establish how I am progressing. I believe my good manners will be critical in my team building and work initiatives that involve working with others.
