The experience that I had in this project revolved around reducing difficulties in trying to connect to a WI-FI internet provider, which remained as a key challenge in my workplace environment. In my workplace, we rely on access to the internet for purposes of ensuring that we would be able to upload the necessary documents, as well as, connect to the database allowing us to achieve the set out expectations in terms of expected service outcomes. The speed of the WI-FI did not have any problem with the only problem being that some of the machines were not able to connect to the network. The IT department had a challenge in reporting this problem, as they were not in a position to connect to the internet. That forced the department to prepare a report that was delivered physically to our office highlighting the challenge that it was facing with regard to their inability to connect to the WI-FI network. Through these reports, it was much easier in getting the required data on areas that were experiencing challenges in connection to the WI-FI network. The problem created a situation where it became somewhat difficult or challenging for individual users to connect to the WI-FI network to allow for access of the internet. The decision to adopt a problem-solving approach was driven by the fact that this approach would help in creating a systematic analysis of the problem in a bid to finding effective solutions.
Solution Used to Address the Problem
The solution used to address the problem was driven by the need to find the cause of the problem before having to take the appropriate steps to help in the implementation of the solutions. Edison (2012) indicates that one of the key expectations associated with finding a solution to a specific problem is actually having to examine the nature of the problem, as this would determine the steps taken to achieve overall success. In this case, the main step was make sure that the software is up-to-date, which would serve as one of the key factors contributing to the problem at hand. The other key approach taken was embarking on a network troubleshoot, which was important towards ensuring that the issues within the network are handled effectively, as some of these issues may contribute to the situation in which the laptops may have problems in connecting to the WI-FI. The network troubleshooting method use was online guide, which allowed for an easier ability to change specific aspects of the network to aid in promoting effective connection. After having undertaken the troubleshooting, the other key step taken was installing WI-FI points within different points in the company environment that were experiencing challenges in connecting to the network. The WI-FI points made it much easier for individual devices to connect to the network seamlessly to allow for easier delivery of set out goals and objectives.

Special-Cause or Common-Cause
Based on the analysis of the nature of the problem, it was clear that this would be considered as a common-cause problem. Taylor (2008) describes common cause variation as fluctuations that result from unknown factors that tend to result in a steady yet random distribution of the expected output. In this case, the factors contributing to the inability for the laptops to connect to the WI-FI internet provider remained unknown with the output distribution being random with regard to changing the ability for the systems to actually connect to the internet. That meant that finding a solution to the problem involved having to engage in an in-depth analysis of multiple factors with the aim being towards maximizing on possible outcomes. The ultimate result of this is that it would create a platform for change in the overall structure of performance to help meet possible outcomes.
Appropriateness of Solution or Approach
The appropriateness of a solution or approach that is taken as part of dealing with a given problem reflects more on the outcomes, which would determine whether the solution was well positioned towards dealing with the issue or problem at hand (Castañeda-Méndez, 2012). In this case, it can be noted that the solutions taken up focused more on trying to reflect on a structured avenue through which to determine some of the key expectations when dealing with each of the factors. Additionally, this also reflected on a process of having to determine the exact factors contributing to the problem at hand as a way of finding effective solutions. Ultimately, this would lead to the conclusion that indeed the solution or approach taken as part of the solution was appropriate.
If I could do it again
In the event that I would do it again, one of the key aspects that I would consider is trying to set up a systematic approach towards ensuring that I am not only able to make a clear analysis of the problem but also find solutions that match the expected outcomes. In this case, I would consider the possibility that the problem may arise due to two or more factors, which would serve as one of the key aspects of consideration in determining general progress. The expectation is that this would help create a major shift in what I ought to expect as part of my determined approach towards enhancing overall capacity to match possible performance expectations. The ultimate result is that it would allow me to adopt differentiated approaches that would allow me the opportunity of actually enhancing progress in my ability to implement or adopt a proactive solution.
Conclusions
From the problem-solving techniques, I was able to take note of the fact that dealing with a problem requires one to focus on the fundamental factors contributing to the issue, as this would serve as one of the key elements that defines generalized performance. In this case, it becomes clear that my ability to focus on multiple factors as part of handling the issue at hand may have served as one of the key aspects that can contribute to actually enhancing overall possibilities for me to achieve positive results. That means that for one to be able to find a solution to a given problem, it becomes important to examine the problem as part of establishing how it relates to the overall system.
