Having completed my degree in Engineering, I would like to take a Master of finance degree in your university. Studying finance as an engineer is essential in building my career as a whole. During my studies, I did a number of mathematics courses and I found them interesting. Playing with numbers is my hobby and right from my childhood, I have dreamed of doing a finance course. I would like to pursue this course because I believe that as an engineer, I am tasked with decision making in areas that touch on the goals of an organization. Such decisions such as spending on engineering areas that are expected to make a return to the company require proper knowledge in financial concepts. In such circumstances, I need to understand financial concepts that will enable me make a decision on whether to invest and how much is required to break even within a short time. Decisions such as delaying a project introduction at the expense of the profit margin to add a better concept to the project also requires knowledge in finance that will allow me make the right judgment after putting all benefits and cons together.
Calculations and anything that requires playing with numbers both in class and outside has always been my strength. From by academic history, I have always excelled in mathematics and finance being related to mathematics, I am confident that I will still excel and build my career. With this good background in mathematics, some of my areas of interest in the course are costing and financial analysis, analysis of financial instruments, and investment and banking. Studying finance will be an opportunity for me to show my abilities from the experience I have gained while working in the finance sector. Having worked in a bank for three months, I realize that I have a passion for finance and I will be able to share my banking experience with my classmates. I will be able to show the various banking aspects that are practically done in the bank and only done as a theory in class. By sharing such essential information in class, I will be able to help other students get a view of the real application of a number of finance concepts.

Currently, I hold a managerial position in a pharmaceutical company and I have been able to learn a lot in the field of management. However, I feel that I am misplaced, I always want to be involved in the finance department and this has really made me realize that I have a great passion in finance. If I start a personal business in future for instance, I will not need to employ many people in the finance department because I will be able to do various financial roles. In my undergraduate studies, I was able to learn few basics in finance as an introduction to financial engineering. My work experience also proofs my interest in finance and the determination to pursue this course in the graduate level.
