According to legal realist, J.L. Austin, the law is "the command of a sovereign." Austin's school of thought is based on the legal enforcement that indeed goes beyond the goodwill and negotiation. This enforcement of goodwill ultimately needs some intervention of state agencies like the government of a sovereign state. The authority and force of a government of the day in any particular jurisdiction is significant to sovereignty. Historically, as outlined in the United Nations Charter, a sovereign nation could defend its own terrains if necessary with military force, or enforce law codes at its own liking with no foreign interference. However, it is profound to acclaim that the sovereignty of a nation can be applied with less ado provided there is a relatively peaceful coexistence. Basing the knowledge on international law and using news sources, this paper discusses Syria where other nations are officially commenting on or objecting to what goes on within its territory. Besides, the paper highlights such objections or comments amounting to an infringement of the Syria sovereignty.
Foreign nations have in the recently involved themselves in the affairs of Syria amid civil wars. The conflicts that started in the year 2011 has attracted interests from the superpowers and regional nations. Primarily Russia and the United States have overlying proxy wars as well as Saudi Arabia and Iran. Iran and Russia support the Syrian Ba'athist administration politically and militarily. On the contrary, the U.S and some Middle East states support the opposition in Syria. The international community has officially infringed the sovereignty of Syria as a country for humanitarian and political reasons. Nevertheless, this trespass on the Syrian jurisdiction is no myth on the face of international law as some of these treaties are enforceable by law.
