One of the jobs related to managerial accounting I found is a Management Accountant job- Consultancy. An interesting job requirement under this posting is that the qualified individual should be able to manage accounts for two entities in the UK and the US. This includes the consolidation of a variety of financial statements. This requirement was noteworthy to me because of the broad knowledge required here. Although there are a few similarities between the accounting standards in both countries, there are also notable differences between IFRS and US GAAP (Sander et al., 2007). To undertake the job desirably, experience in working with financial firms in both countries would be a plus. Besides this, it is also interesting to note that workplace dynamics prevalent in both countries will significantly influence how the job roles specified are undertaken. It is, therefore interesting that although not mentioned, the individual in question thoroughly understand the corporate culture of finance companies in both countries.
Another job opening requiring experience in managerial accounting that I found interesting is that of an accountant manager at Remind, a communication entity. It is interesting to note that some of the skills required are not related to accounting, but would come in handy in collaborating with other stakeholders in the company to ensure the success of the entity’s undertakings. To be able to rollout as well as maintain new, improved accounting tools, it is necessary that the interested person be innovative and possess critical thinking skills. Also, another interesting requirement is that the person should be passionate about education. This is interesting because education and accounting are significantly different. This observation could imply that although the hiring entity deals with education and wants an employee with a managerial accounting background, in some cases, the person could undertake education-related roles, either directly or indirectly. It is noteworthy because it calls for diversity in skills acquisition by professions in managerial accounting because of skills dynamics requirements at the workplace (Wilkerson, 2020).
