Clearly, the CBP has initiated stringent measures that pose significant potential impact on logistics systems. For global shippers, this rule presents a plethora of challenges. It is going to slow down the clearance process for large consignments (Bichou, Lai, Lun, & Cheng, 2007). It should be noted that the credibility of the ISF list will be certified by CBP inspectors who are supposed to conduct spot inspection upon arrival on port. These activities will cost importers significant amounts of time and money. In cases where the importers are dealing with perishables, product damage might be equally colossal. For this reason, importers and shippers are urged to develop a clear grasp of the rules so as to avoid jeopardizing their supply chain activities. Those who understand the precepts of the CBP manifest rules will ensure to comply to avoid time-wasting.
