Microsoft is an MNC computer technology corporation. Bill Gates and Paul Allen are its founders. It was founded back on April 4th, 1975 in the US. Currently, it is considered among the top valuable firms in the world. Over the years, it has experienced transitions in its products and services, resulting in global logistics awareness. For instance, Microsoft engages in the development, issuing of licenses, and offering support to a wide variety of software-related products and services pertaining to distinct needs. However, initially, before 1990, this firm was primarily a supplier to hardware manufacturers (Hall, 2020). Thus, this implied that this was their significant target market.
Later on, Microsoft ventured into gaming and mobile phone marketing, which succeeded in attracting a significant market’s share. In 2011, Microsoft acquired Skype for approximately $8.5 billion. By then, this was regarded as the immense accession in its history. Skype-enabled Microsoft competes with Facetime and Voice that belonged to Apple and Google, respectively. Also, in recent years, it has expanded and, thus, further joined cloud computing. Therefore, this has enabled Microsoft to diversify into a globally competitive firm since it sells and markets its products in a wide range of fields.
