Challenges in Researching and Preparing Project
The process of researching and preparing the project on military logistics has been particularly interesting. However, there were various challenges that I encountered including choosing the right topic and dealing with data found. It is evident that there are a host of issues that can be studied in logistics and military logistics in particular. However, finding the gap in literature and establishing an appropriate topic was difficult. The topic provides a guideline for the entire research and once I found it, everything seemed much simpler. However, during the process of gathering information, large amounts of data may create confusion. Drawing on details and using technology to find patterns in qualitative research can help make sense of study findings and analysis of data.
Learning in the Research
There are many concepts that I learned in researching on military logistics. The most profound thing is the logistics management information systems that are critical in the supply process used in the military. These systems include records and reports that allow for analysis, validation, and aggregation of data at different levels in the logistics chain. The Automated Manifest System, Tactical (AMS-TAC) is one that is used in shipping and tracking inventory as they move along the supply chain. The Computerized Movement Planning and Status System (COMPASS) in another integrated system that combines evolving technology and system interfaces to facilitate the collection of data on the movement of units.

Application of Knowledge
The knowledge gained from military logistics is important in seeking a career in the armed forces. In the 20 th and 21 st centuries, there have been significant developments that have allowed for a diverse professional base in the military. The fact that troops cannot carry all of their supplies when they set out on a mission campaign ensures the need for skills and knowledge of a logistics officer. The information gained from this research process provides the greater impact in identifying improvements that can be made in the military and the logistics discipline as a whole.
