Tracking inventory using smartphones is not only a reliable but also flexible approach that assists an organization in monitoring its assets and inventory. However, inventory and asset management can be a challenging task; thus, it is essential for an organization to invest in a software program that facilitates a quick and efficient inventory management system on regular smartphones and tablets. Thus, an inventory management mobile app would be a long term solution that meets the needs of the organization while connecting the staff to the enterprise system. The mobile app will act as a computer vision-enabled management system that will enhance communication channels and facilitate transparency in the supply chain.

An inventory management mobile app will allow the employees to update the stock and track inventory from any location. In addition to this, employees can access detailed product information and manage replacements on the sales floor. Thus, to increase productivity and reduce costs the company needs to invest in the mobile app. According to Sigh and Singh (2013), mobile inventory management enables an organization to reduce the impact of human errors, minimize labor costs, identify and profit from consumer insights and demand trends. Furthermore, the mobile app will increase operational efficiency and improve the company's strategies by using a proven performance metric.

In comparison to other computerized clouding systems and scanning solutions, mobile apps on smart devices are relatively cheaper to develop and maintain. Through the use of an inventory management mobile app, the company will avoid the additional hardware costs associated with other scanning solutions. The mobile app is not only inexpensive but has a relatively high scanning performance level. Therefore, the company will not be compromising on its productivity.
