This was considered a distinctive court case because of the non-existence of evidence indicating direct copying. A track can be termed as copied if the two in question are seen to be significantly comparable. In the “Blurred Lines” lawsuit, the Federal Court determined that the lead sheets characterized the scale of Defendants’ copyrighted compositions and not any of the soundtracks. This signifies that similarities were located within both music sheets but no comparisons in the words or tone. This lawsuit was won based on the sound and appliances utilized in making both tracks. A declaration from Robin Thicke affirming that the line between motivation and replication may be termed as cautiously unclear. Thicke and Williams are in the course of filing an appeal of the lawsuit.
