Cyber-attacks have been a major problem faced by the US as compared with other physical attacks, especially in the current digital world. In most cases, the targets of cyber-attacks are the electronic companies, banks, and other critical infrastructure systems. Various research studies are conducted by experts and professionals in the field of computer and information technology seeking the lasting solutions to the increasing cyber-attack cases. The move by the US Department of Homeland Security to establish a new Homeland Security center to deal the increasing cyber-attacks is a relief to the government, businesses, learning institutions, and individuals in the society as the problems of cyber security will be reduced. The new center will focus on identify the industries with potential cyber-attack threats and improve the security systems ( Pipyros et al., 2018 ). Power grid and newly created department of election security taskforce are some of the targeted industries, as many Americans rely on the organizations. Additionally, the new Homeland Security center will partner with federal agencies, private companies, and Homeland Security as the lead agency in the department of security.
With the recent developments of reports that various interferences have been experienced in the recent parts are associated with the cyber-attacks, the new homeland security center is deemed as the right strategy to deal with the issues. Recently, it was reported that Russia interfered with the mid elections and tried unsuccessfully to access and interfere with the Senate network security system. Such severe interference reports have prompted the establishment of the new center and the move to partner with other agencies and professionals in the field of technology ( Wei et al., 2010 ). In the recent security summit, security officials from the telecommunication industries, credit card companies, and department of energy, FBI, and NSA promised that they would not tolerate any interference from Russia, individual or organization from within or outside the country to interfere with security status and safety of organization through cyber-attacks. The establishment of new homeland security center to deal with cyber-attacks, partnering with other agencies and commitment from CEOs and security officials proves that the US is committed in to stop the criminal activity.
