Statistics Sweden published an article on the state of permanent employees in Sweden in terms of their number. The news article was published on their website on 12 th February 2019. The statistical report compares the analyzed data on permanent employment in the fourth quarters of 2018 and 2017. 5,131,000 men and women were employed in the fourth quarter of 2018. During the same period in the previous year, the number of permanent employees was less by 106,000 compared to the number in 2018 ("Employment levels continue to increase", 2019) . The employment rate in this period in 2018 was 68.6% up from 67.6% in 2017.

The average working hours per week was also measured and reported in the article. The article was measuring the increase in the rate of employment in the fourth quarters of the two years. The rate of increase in employment was also classified in terms of gender. It is reported that 51,000 more men were employed during this period in 2018 than in 2017. Similarly, there was an increase of 55,000 employed women. The rate of employment was measured by comparing data from the fourth quarter of 2017 and 2018. The article also measured increases in employment rates in the public and private sectors.

The variables in the report used to measure employment rates in the two periods included the number of employees, the gender of the employees, age, weekly working hours, and country of birth of the employees. The independent variables in the article include; age, gender, and country of birth. The dependent variables are weekly working hours, and the number of employed people (Boldin & Wright, 2015) . Categorical and numerical data was used in the analyses. Gender was categorical while the number of employed people was numerical (Storlie et al., 2018)

The analysis of the data in the news article may be subject to measurement errors. This is because the number of employed people in a given category such as the private sector may not be captured accurately. This affects the final outcome of the analysis. The results are accurate since the data is obtained from a credible source: Statistics Sweden. The results are accurate as the calculations show. For example, the number of employed men increased by 51,000 while that of women increased by 55,000 ("Employment levels continue to increase", 2019) . This gives a total increase of 106,000 which is reported by the article.
