It is a corroborated fact that the art of sound mathematical skills requires a thorough mindset consisting of both practicality and logic. This same principle applies to the disciplines of Accounting and Finance. As such, it is my innate feeling that with the knowledge of a combination of these intricate subjects I will fully incline to the world of economics. Among the plethora of components that captivates me, this world is one of them, particularly, when I think of pursuing intense study in Accounting and Finance. Therefore, I am applying for a placement at the London School of Economics since I am increasingly interested in these disciplines and in their potential to actualize my career dream and overall potential in its profession.
My interest in the areas of accounting and finance commenced during my undergraduate studies at Nanjing Audit University’s School of International Audit. Owing to my enthusiasm in these fields, I managed to obtain a 3.5 Grade Point Average. While in my undergraduate studies, I covered a host of topics pertinent to accounting and finance, which enabled me to major in auditing. Among the topics that interested me most covered mathematical principles such as Calculus, financial management among others. Auditing topics were also my forte such as audit and accreditation, internal audit, audit laws and regulation, government auditing, among other sub-related units. I became interested in the MSc program of the London School of Economics since it accords ample exposure to specialized learning pathways such as international accounting and finance, accounting and financial management and finance independently. Moreover, the school's flexibility in choice also augured well with my dynamic nature through this equal balance of programs across two disciplines. Through these program structures, I am confident that I will broaden my understanding and knowledge of the topic as a whole. I am also hoping to attain a higher GPA than in my undergraduate studies and to concentrate fully on delivering an impressive thesis, which will be relevant to this contemporary technological and dynamic world.

During my work placement, I participated in the Abraaj Group to augment my professional understanding and knowledge further. Due to the exposure, I got at the Abraaj group, my skills in various financial and accounting fields developed and increased exponentially. Such expertise was in the fields of project resources and industry equity investment. Exposure to these fields helped me to understand better the use of curricula in learning various investment knowledge. In addition to the main courses at the program, a number of elective courses such as fixed income and portfolio management were of great interest to me. Prior to my work at Abraaj Group, I got intense exposure to these fields, and in the work process, my enthusiasm for financial knowledge and accounting amplified significantly. Moreover, understanding equity investment has aided me in developing promising prospects in not only Abraaj Group but also other financial firms. While the future beckons, my focus is to enter PE/VC/IBP investment institutions, which requires immense logical thought and an understanding of profitability and operations models within all types of markets. All analysis done in such institutions are based on solid knowledge in the financial markets, the ability to judge equity value, the robust management of enterprise funds and understanding of corporate finance knowledge among others. Thus, an MSc program in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics will be highly advantageous in instilling these skillsets in me.
In the future, concerning my professional development, I strongly hope to solidify my foundation in the ability to analyze enterprise finance through proper erudition in corporate finance and investment knowledge as extrapolated from the program. Moreover, my ambitions in the next three to five years are to deduce my own business analysis methods and concepts in value investments; commensurately, making independent judgments in value investments. In doing this, I plan to exploit the unique nature of the industry and access first-hand economic data from various industries. Conversely, present China is experiencing retrogressed economic development since numerous enterprises continue to face situations that are difficult, which makes the acceptance of investment premiums decline at a steady rate. On the other hand, such crises offer unremitting opportunities through low premiums, which are excellent for the investment industry. Such opportunities continue to inspire the growth of Chinese industries analogous to Mobike, DJI, among others. However, initial investments in such sectors require the incorporation of both imagination and logical thought through corporate and finance knowledge as an investment basis. Therefore, I hope to commence an MSc course in this institution not only for me to boost my equity investment decisions but also to attain an in-depth understanding of finance and accounting.
In addition, my work in selected projects in various financial companies has enabled me to gain applicable knowledge in divergent areas. Presently, I work at the Ernst & Young (China) Advisory Limited (EY) in Shanghai China as a Senior Advisor. In my capacity, I analyze and evaluate situations within the industry and subsequently clarify operational and financial strategies. Prior to my present workplace, I worked at Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu CPA Ltd. (DTT) whereby I handled various capacities including financial auditing, analysis of accounting standards, among others. These professional experiences have gone a long way in supplementing my understanding of finance, accounting, and auditing. Thus, I feel that an MSc program in Accounting and Finance will aid in immensely developing me professionally. Aside from scholastic and professional interests, I also possess leadership qualities since I was the outreach minister of the Student Union as the School of International Audit. Moreover, I volunteer passionately; among my projects have been the Volunteer of Worldwide Hope Project in Jakarta, Indonesia.
