NATO is a security alliance that is founded on providing protection for its members through political and military means. The alliance consists of thirty member countries from Europe and North America. It was established in 1949 during the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty ( Dean, 1999) . Its function is to ensure lasting peace for its members through fostering common values of human rights, the rule of law, democracy and individual liberty. OSCE on the other hand focuses on the prevention of conflict, facilitating settlements during conflicts, conflict resolution, rehabilitation strategies post-conflict and peacebuilding among its member states ( Dean, 1999) . It has fifty-seven member countries from Europe, North America and Central Asia.
The Rohingya genocide is a crime against humanity that needed to have been at the top of ICC’S priority list. The religious conflict that has witnessed the continued killing and massacre of Rohingya Muslims by Rohingya Buddhist and the Burmese military is a critical human rights issue that needed to have witnessed the ICC’s intervention during its initial stages ( Dussich, 2018) . Many innocent people are losing their lives due to religious conflict that one would feel it easy for the ICC to solve. It holds weighty worldwide attention and it needs to have attracted ICC’s attention too. Nonetheless, the world continues to witness these killings to little or no intervention being witnessed from the international court. To some extent, would assume that the court often interferes when it is somewhat too late to resolve that damage that has already occurred. Many of the cases at the court are focusing on the convicting of suspects after the damage has been done and many people have lost their lives. For instance, the cases touching on the post-election violence that occurred in Kenya between 2007 and 2008 saw investigations only happen from 2010 as allowed by the ICC. It would probably mean that the court will handle such a case as that of the Rohingya when the conflict has died out. No one knows when it will be and how many lives would have been lost.
