Sir Robert Peel’s nine principles outline the purpose as well as admonishments for the police force helping the agency not to lose sight of its existence and required services ("Sir Robert Peel's Policing Principles | Law Enforcement Action Partnership", 2019). There are top five principles which I believe are appropriate as pillars for the police service. My first top principle is the purpose of the police force principle that requires it to maintain order while preventing crime. The second principle is the dependence of police on the public for trust and approval to effectively execute their responsibilities (Loader, 2016). My third top principle is for the police to be unwavering in their duties as they adhere to the law and their maintenance of impartiality while avoiding swaying by public opinion. My fourth principle is the stipulation of the ultimate goal of policing which aims at achieving compliance with law voluntarily and my last top principle is reminding the police that they are also members of the public and service and protection is their purpose (Loader, 2016).These principles, align with my local police agency because its conformity to the principles guides the actions of the police officers. The aim of my local agency has always been public service, and it strives to ensure that there is a preservation of trust between the agency and the community. This way, law enforcement has always been easy and effective. Also, my local agency only uses force as a last resort after persuasion has failed.
