I agree with Nathaniel. He does an excellent job in highlighting the economic strengths and weaknesses, as well as pointing out the opportunities and threats that face the South Korean and American markets in a comparison manner which allows for the easy study of these two markets to establish how each one of them responds to the prevailing forces. Nathaniel also does an excellent job in defining what SWOT means and highlighting the factors that are internal and those that are external to the business. From this article, I learned that strengths and weaknesses are internal factors of business while opportunities and threats are external factors. However, he fails in defining each of these factors and the article does not discuss in details how each of these affects the business. The author should clarify on this, as well as pointing out how the South Korean and the American markets can navigate their way around these factors.
The second classmate, Jon, starts off his article by explaining the benefits of the SWOT analysis for the market. From this article, I have learned that the SWOT analysis is a planning process that allows businesses to overcome the obstacles that may prohibit their progress in the market, by giving them room to determine the leads that they could tap into, and the ones that should be forgone for the business to attain its optimum productivity. In as much as the article broadly categorizes these factors into internal and external factors, it fails in pointing out how the business can and should manage the internal elements. More clarity should also be put in explaining how the company can navigate its way around the external factors to its advantage in the market. The article nonetheless does a great job in detailing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats both the South Korean and the American demands face.
