Kevin Chary is the current administrative officer at the Colorado Plains Medical Center. Kevin Chary has experience in operations and clinical aspects. He has a nursing background which has contributed to his style of leadership. Kevin has served as an administrator at Logan Regional Medical Center in West Virginia for a period of four years, Parkview Regional Hospital in Texas, and Ennis Regional Medical Center. As a nurse, Kelvin Chary has held leadership positions such as chief nursing officer at St. Francis Hospital in Tennessee ( Health & Hospital News, 2019 ). Question one: What methods or ways do you apply to ensure that the desired outcomes/results are achieved?

Response: “First and foremost, it is crucial to have a direction and strategy that has focus and clarity. Having a clear thought and strategy is important for success and desired outcomes. I believe that people experience dilemmas because they lack clarity and focus. I emphasize goals and being efficient.”

Questions two: How do you perceive the organization's employees? How would you describe an effective leader?

Response: “Leaders cannot do things by themselves. Human relationship is crucial. I cannot do everything on my own. Things can only get done through other people. Therefore, my relationship with the organization's employees has to be there. An effective leader can be described as one who can cause different groups of people to collaborate and realize a common goal in an effective way.”

Question three: How do you solve conflicts in the workplace?

Response: “Conflict and power are both interesting aspects of leadership. If one is not after power, conflicts do not arise. It is that simple to me. I do not go seeking for power. Therefore, when I lead Colorado Plains Medical Center, I don't do so due to power, but because I desire to lead by principle and walk my talk. As long as I am not after power, conflicts will not arise. Therefore, I would say that my leadership is driven by principles.”

Question four: What strategies do you find important in shaping human conduct in the workplace?

Response: “Symbols and culture are crucial in guiding human conduct. I ensure to create a feeling of enthusiasm and commitment by using charisma in developing an appropriate culture for Colorado Plains Medical Center.”

Assessment of Colorado Plains Medical Center

Colorado Plains Medical Center is acknowledged for its commitment in ensuring patient safety and quality health care. In 2016, for example, the hospital was named a top rural health care facility and received the 2016 hospital award ( Health & Hospital News, 2019) . This indicates that the hospital has a dedicated team of employees, physicians, and management. Reviews from employees who have worked in the hospital also show that the working environment is conducive and motivating. The hospital has made efforts and strived to realize its vision which is to become a place where physicians and staff want to work and where patients want to receive health care.

Reflection

The organization is a good fit for me because the working environment appears good for learning, personal and professional development. The leadership of Kevin Chary creates a good working environment. From the responses to the interview questions, Kevin Chary is strong in the structural frame, symbolic frame, and human resource frame. A structural frame pays attention to an organization's goals and being efficient (Henrikson, 2007). Human resources, on the other hand, pay attention to the needs of human beings to ensure that the needs are met by the organization (Henrikson, 2007). However, the leader does not exhibit strength in his political frame. He believes that by not exhibiting power, conflicts are not avoided. Conflicts among people are usual and expected by-product for teams (Henrikson, 2007). Therefore, a political leader should concentrate on networking, negotiating to comprise situations, and establishing collaboration. However, Kevin Chary seems to concentrate more on avoiding power to avoid conflict. Therefore, although the organization is strong in three frames, the political frame appears weaker. However, I would still want to work under the leadership of Kevin Chary. He appears as an effective leader.
