Introduction
Asthma disease among children and young adults is a major public health issue at the Lake County California. A lot of physicians in this hospital do not understand the best practices recommended for prevention and management of Asthma disease. Therefore, this paper targets the audience of public health players within the hospital, Lake County California. The reason for choosing this topic is that despite the standard practices recommended for the prevention and management of Asthma, Lake County California is still losing the fight against the disease. The consequence of this poor management of Asthma disease has been the socio-economic losses on the part of the victims.
Analysis of the public health issue
It is important to note that the American Academy of Pediatrics came up with very effective standard guidelines on the best management practices for the Asthma disease among children and young adults. However, it is quite surprising that the health care physicians operating at Lake County do not even understand these guidelines. Therefore, they do not apply them in the treatment of Asthma. To show the serious nature of this issue, about 90% of the Asthma patients in the year 2014 had not been provided with an asthma management plan (Ehteshami-Afshar et al., 2016).

Currently, Asthma is a very big socio-economic burden to the victims and their families all over the world. The major economic issue brought about by Asthma is cost. The cost of treating Asthma disease is very high. Families that have low incomes are forced to enter huge debts in order to treat this disease. Moreover, for those that use the universal healthcare insurance programs, treatment of Asthma has pushed the expenditure on treatment by the government very high. This high cost of health care provision is eating into the budget for public developmental projects (Ehteshami-Afshar et al., 2016). Therefore, Asthma cannot be treated as a cheap disease.
Moreover, there is the issue of rising absenteeism at the job places. Asthma patients are very many and they cannot report to their workstations because of their poor health conditions. These young adults, thus, skip duty in order to seek medication hence bringing down the production level of organizations. The macroeconomic of this disturbance of the human resource input is slow economic growth in the whole region. Revenues of companies do fall significantly.
At the microeconomic level, Asthma causes a huge fall in the incomes of the households. Young adults who are working class are forced to leave their jobs in the search for medication. Their income flow is stopped eventually leading to a rise in the level of poverty. These are some of the huge economic considerations when it comes to this public health issue of Asthma disease.
It is important to note that Asthma does not only lead to economic loss, but also social side-effects. There are many people dying from the Asthma disease leaving their families. It is important to note that Asthma cuts friendships as the victims are hospitalized for very long periods.
Conclusion
Understanding some significant economic principles and indicators such as cost, incomes and labor is essential to better dealing with the issue of Asthma (Jardim, 2007). Moreover, the social issues that come with Asthma disease have to also be considered for better management of it. It is important to note that Asthma can be controlled at its early stages. Physicians in hospitals need to be educated on the standard guidelines of treating Asthma so that people are not left to suffer and die alone.
