The concept of leadership has a wide variety of definitions. However, many definitions have a common element of providing a group of people with a direction in achieving organizational or team objectives. Although leaders are entrusted to lead people in organizations, some weaknesses act to hinder their abilities.

The first weakness is insufficient trust in the employees. Lack of trust in my employees' pool leads me to take up huge tasks than I can handle. There is little trust that my team members will accomplish specific tasks with a high level of comprehensively. Another challenge with this weakness is micromanagement of employees to ensure every progress is supervised (Northouse, 2018) . Some employees are not happy with intensive supervision. Lack of trust in my pool of employees results in hardships in sharing important information. They end up not receiving some valuable information about the company.

Another weakness is fear of stagnancy. As a leader, I am conscious of the progress of activities in the team. This weakness emerges from the danger of getting stuck. The team members need to be aware of the changes in decisions about the way activities are carried out in the team. Adopting a specific way of executing activities makes some team members develop stagnancy. There is a need to embrace innovation and dynamic techniques to avoid the team from becoming static. Feedback from the employees is critical in solving issues resulting from stagnation.

Another weakness is the failure to define expectations clearly. Some members of the team feel that they are uncertain about what is expected of them. Instructing employees and believing that everything is clear and good to go has posed challenges. There seems to be a need to regularly remind the employees of the mission ahead and develop strategies to motivate employees to keep them going. Defining expectations enables employees to remain focused on their assignments. With well-defined expectations, it is easy to determine an ideal workload for an employee.

The first weakness of insufficient trust in the employees has manifested itself in my past leadership experience. I learned that employees had minimal tasks assigned to them, increasing redundancy. On the other hand, my workload was too high that I left the office late to resume work very early the following morning. This made my supervision process more difficult.

Understanding leadership as a theory and chronology of leadership study and practice will help solve the weaknesses hindering my leadership ability. The leadership theories explain how people become leaders and the ideal traits for leaders (Northouse, 2018) . The great man leadership theory suggests that leadership ability is inherent, and leaders are supposed to change tactics depending on the situation changes. The contingency theory will help to develop a balance between the needs and behaviors in the context. As a leader based on this leadership theory, leaders should analyze the employee's needs while combining various variables in the leadership approach. The leadership theories outline the role of a leader in developing confidence among the employees. Having trust in employees will help to raise the levels of trust in the employees.

Basic concepts in leadership introduction will be critical in working on my weakness on defining expectations. Leaders are expected to act as leaders by defining a clear path of expectations and goals and give the team a regular sense of direction. From the concept, leaders play a major role in delegating duties and responsibilities amongst the team members. Motivation is a key leadership component. Motivated workers have high output compared to employees who are not motivated. Motivated teams achieve team objectives with more dedication than unmotivated employees. Leaders also play a crucial role in setting a leadership example
