Summary of the Article
"The Effectiveness of Excellence Camp" is an article guiding students on how to become better in a problem-solving situation. The primary purpose of the study was to conduct a recap concerning common knowledge to expose learners to problem-based studies. To assist students effectively in understanding mathematics, the research focused on the significance of educational camp. Students with continuous reoccurrence pre-Calculus issues were the main targets in this study. The academic camp is the best approach in helping learners with problem-solving skills, especially in mathematics. Students who have difficulties in problem-solving skills can intensify their skills through these academic camps.

During the study period, the students were given pre-test and post-test before and after every lesson, respectively. The main reason was to assess the effectiveness of the program to the learners ( Yusop et al., 2015 ). The study used the pre-test and post-test different mean samples plus the hypothesis examination using a paired sample of t-test. The research question was to identify underlying reasons behind the increased failure rate connected to weak mathematics foundation. The problem statement of the study was to respond to the question if there exist any variations based on marks on pre and post-test
The research used quantitative means in gathering discrete information. Two significant sets of pre-tests and post-tests were issued to the learners to examine the effectiveness of the system. With the help of a paired sample, hypothesis testing using a t-test was utilized in this research. The results expected to get a higher mean value for the test after the lesson compared to the test before the lesson. Apart from gathering information quantitatively, the study used discrete data in the study. The percentage of marks of the students were systematically collected and counted. The descriptive assessment was utilized to shed enough light on the mean and standard deviations of the grades, for the primary purpose of testing the significant variations pre-test and post-test, the t-test used with the percentage grades for before and after the test.
The Statistical Test Used
The statistical test used by the study is a t-test. The primary reason for using the t-test in this study was to explore if there is a significant variation between the mean values of the two sets ( Yusop et al., 2015 ). With a perception that they might be associated with particular features. The T-test is usually used in statistics for hypothesis testing. A t-test explores the t-statistics, the distribution values combined with the freedom degree in an attempt to determine the statistical significance. The primary purpose of significance testing is justifying evidence against a specific hypothesis being true. In the case of three or more values, an analysis of variance is usually advised. The decision on which statistical test to use regularly depends on several factors. These factors may include the distribution of the data, research design, and the nature of the study.
Conclusion and Why
The study concludes that there exists a positive impact in mathematics camp in impacting earlier mathematics knowledge. The reason for this conclusion was based on the fact that virtually 80% of the learners were ranked in low grade. Despite this, the results indicate that scores increased dramatically after the camp. It is also evident that almost 37.1% of the learners performed best after the post-test, with 51.4% and 5.7% of the students being in excellent and moderate grades, respectively. This is an open indication that mathematics camp has a perfect positive connection in the process of impacting elementary mathematic basics.
