The process of evaluating law enforcement agencies such as the police takes a considerably a high amount of time to improve their delivery and effectiveness in their work of crime detection. The evaluation involves the measure of leadership skills, determining their ability to research and develop policies and the provision of vital management skills. However, this process may take a lot of time and resources from the government. The focus will be on the feasibility of this process, when it should be utilized, and who should or shouldn't utilize it.

The process of evaluation forms a platform for the measurement of the effectiveness of the police. Through evaluation, the state can determine the police to citizen ratio which is a key indicator of security. The leadership abilities of a law enforcement agency can also be measured and instilled through a thorough evaluation process. Leadership skills such as honesty and integrity are important for such agencies to win the trust of their clients who are the citizens. Evaluation will also ensure that the agencies work without any form of bias regardless of sex, race, and religion.

Law enforcement agencies should respect human rights, and when dealing with the general public, they should know when to use force or not. Furthermore, evaluation will ensure that the agencies carry themselves in a professional and ethical manner and ensuring that policies are placed to castigate those engaged in misconduct (Rostow & Davis 2014).

The government is the number one beneficiary of the information regarding the evaluation of law enforcement agencies. The information will provide them with crucial details that will help them decide on whether to strengthen a given section of the agencies. Human rights activist is also persons of interest in this process as they ensure that the agencies respect the civil rights of the people.
