Thoreau claimed that there exist some biased laws and the primary question was if they were to abide by them or should they work tirelessly in modifying them, and respect them until a moment when they succeed or should they transgress them at one time. Such legislation is most of the time meant for the majority who voted for it leaving the people with no other option but to suffer the consequences of such a fallen system. Thus, the central thesis for the paper will be that minority do have the right to disobey the law if it does not meet help them at all.

To begin with, the lawmaking process is crooked, and the weak will never have a say such that the bills that are made are always set to help the majority have an easy time at the expense of the other people in the community. Most people believe that they have to appeal to other people to be on their side so that they can change or modify the bills entirely and such individuals think that if they disobey the law, the consequences would be dire.

However, they do have the right to violate the rules as they did not support it to be used by them in the first place thereby making these group of people to be legally right to despise such bills or even propose that an amendment is done on them to bring about a change in the management effectively. The other factor is that people never look at the fact that the government has never set a penalty for itself failing to attain specific goals or living by some of the bills that the constitution had made for the country. In such a case, the government offers the perfect example of a minority group which is self-righteous to disobey the bills that were set by the majority so that it can run its activities freely and proficiently. Therefore, the other people also have a right to disobey the law and not be penalized if it does not help them achieve their personal as well as communal goals in the community.

Moreover, injustice seems to be an essential drawback to the governance of any region or even country. The impacts of the such a system are known to be adverse, and therefore it would be better to refuse to be part of the system that promotes injustice acts that are designed to affect the local people while benefiting some of the people in the community.

A bill or a law should help promote equality among the people and if it falls short of this then the people have the right to go against and do anything within their power to amend it or make sure that significant changes are done to it so that it can benefit every citizen regardless of their gender, race, socioeconomic position, and many other factors. Lastly, by not disobeying an unjust law, then the minority groups will be set to face the deleterious impacts which will, in turn, consume them internally until they are finished. Therefore, it is worth being called a wrongdoer than living in darkness as well as being mistreated while waiting for the selfish majority to turn their back and support the minority so that they can enjoy the fruits that the law is meant to provide to them.
