What is the role of the Supreme Court?

The Supreme Court is always considered the last judge in cases that involve the President and Congress. In the United States, it has the power to cancel laws passed since they prove to violate the constitution of the country. In case a passed law tends to break rules of the Constitution, it is the right of the Supreme Court to handle the issue. Moreover, it has the right to inform the President on actions disallowed by the Constitution (McCloskey & Levinson, 2016). The Supreme Court acts as the leader where it governs the Congress, state, President and other government officials. Lastly, the court declares when the officials and the Congress have stepped out of their lane. Therefore, as the highest court in the land, its roles related to the protection of the Constitution by guiding the actions of the president and other powerful bodies in the US such as the Congress and the Senate when passing laws.

What is the meant by "Judicial Review"?

The judicial review refers to the principles that can be passed by courts based on the executive or legislative branch. The Supreme Court is known to have used this power to restrain state laws from being assured by the Constitution. The Judicial review is considered important in the United States since it has helped in protecting most of the minority groups (Corwin, 2017). The blacks, women, atheist and disabled are considered to benefit from the judicial review because it helps in fulfillment of the Constitution objectives.

Explain the two theories of constitutional interpretation, the "living constitution" and "originalist." Which theory do you believe is the correct theory to follow?

The living constitution theory evolves and changes over a specific period before it is fully amended. The theory does not require other alternative processes for it to be amended. In contrast, the originalist theory is used to interpret the Constitution by showing how the five steps of the Article can be changed. Based on the tenets of two theories, the originalist is appropriate because it provides the desired methodology on ensuring that the Constitution is changed to suit the needs of the citizens. It is also easy to understand and receptive to the changing needs of the citizens.
