Transport and logistics management policy incorporates developing propositions and paradigms established in achieving particular goals related to economic, environmental and social progress. TLM policy ensures there is an effective, proficient and sustainable transport action, and cargo supervision .Transport policy aims for effective decision making in term of transport resources allocation making it a private and public exertion. It seeks to improve cargo management and agency freight and enhance sustainable as well as effective operation in transportation. It focuses mainly on that cargo valuing more than 150 pounds (Bertazzi, Bosco, &Laganà, 2015). These commodities are the ones purchased and shipped from the federal agencies.

Impact on TLM Policy on Transportation

Transportation in freight depends heavily on logistics management. Shipping, in this case, would involve movement of commodities from one place to the next using either barge, air, maritime, road and rail. There are many impacts that the transportation and logistics management policy has on the freight movement. These include visibility, inventory flow, sustainability, preferred shipper status, and customer satisfaction.

Effective transportation management starts with proper transportation management system (TMS). The Transportation Management System can tender track shipments and loads and collect and analyze the data. The supplier can utilize this data to track the shipping operations. The government has implemented the visibility gained into the transportation operations to reduce procedures involved in transportation; ensure that the packaging of products is more efficient leading to improvement in overall supply chain objectives(Bertazzi, Bosco, &Laganà, 2015). Concerning sustainability, the policy ensures that companies are socially responsible when it comes to the reduction of carbon footprint and minimizes energy wastage.

Customer Satisfaction through Building Trust On Retailer

The policy ensures that the supplier has direct contact with the customer. It facilitates the speeding up port procedure, leading to customers getting their ordered commodities in good time. Prompt delivery creates customer trust with the supplier. More so, it ensures proper management of transportation which eventually results in high delivery performance (Kumar,Zhalnin, Kim,& Beaulieu,2017).The policy helps the retailers to track their cargo. The retailers are interested in knowing the location and time of their shipments. More so, they would want to know exactly where they are arriving from an exact time of arrival. The policy also helps the government to manage the safe movement of dangerous commodities which would otherwise create public concern (Kumar,Zhalnin, Kim,& Beaulieu,2017). Transportation and logistics management policy there helps in speeding up the clearance of cargo at the port, tracking of goods by the supplier and ensuring they are delivered to the customers safely. The supplier can also follow the shipment throughout. Eventually, they safely arrive to the customer, leading to an increase in customer trust with the supplier. This is because the customer would always require full assurance from the supplier regarding the orders and time of delivery.
