Lately, Uber has been plagued by sexual harassment of the customers by the drivers as one of the legal problems affecting the company in the various parts of the world (Griffith, van Esch & Trittenbach, 2018). The participants involved in the research to probe into the sexual harassment cases against Uber were recruited through a survey platform, and 201 were selected (Griffith, van Esch & Trittenbach, 2018). What seems like acceptance of sexual harassment at Uber has given the company bad publicity as customers review their trust and strained relationship with the organization. The research was meant to help Uber recover from the sexual harassment scandals and win the consumer trust again (Griffith, van Esch & Trittenbach, 2018).
The other scandal that Uber has been involved in is the payment of hackers to cover up a case involving cyber-attacks that left the company's data open to security threats (Wong, 2017). The cover-up of the breach took place in October 2016 and led to the loss of the Chief Security Officer's job after unraveling. Uber is reported to have paid a sum of $ 100000 to the hackers responsible for the covering up of the breach (Wong, 2017). Bloomberg first reported the cover-up before the company publicly opening up about the saga. The chief executive officer of the company promised the employees and customers that the company would avoid such mistakes in the future in a bid to prevent cyber-attacks and their coverage (Wong, 2017). The company was legally wrong for the cover-up, which exposed the personal details of the customers and employees to the danger of cyber insecurity.
