Violence Against Women Act
Violence against Women Act focused on domestic violence. It sought to change the prevailing attitude on domestic violence and create awareness of its existence and prevalence. It also sought to improve and provide other services for victims of domestic violence, and improve the how the judicial system responded to cases involving violence against women at the domestic level (Seghetti & Bjelopera, 2012). The Act necessitated the creation of new structures and major reforms within the department of justice to ensure the fulfillment of the new requirements. These were essential for protecting women subjected to violence such as stalking, intimate partner, dating, and sexual assault (Seghetti & Bjelopera, 2012). The government funds various human service agencies such as the non-profits organizations, state, local, and tribal governments to facilitate the effectiveness of the Act.
Revised Act
The Revised Act extended the hedge about women rights as it created legal and logistics structures to deal with the extensive subject of women rights violation. Some of the achievements in Obama’s administration were possible through the violence against women act which created structures that could respond to violence against women in American Indians and Alaska, support for LGBT survivors of violence, and sexual assault within the military forces. Other areas include human trafficking, protection of senior women in the society and protection of women rights in campuses and other learning institutions. By prohibiting discrimination of and considering the plight of the Alaskan and native Indian women together with the subject of trafficking, the Act protected the interests of the immigrants and Native Americans.

Concerning LGBT, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of October 2013 obtained support from the Federal fund to prevent or stop any discrimination stemming from perceived or actual differences in gender identity and or sexual orientation ( The White House Council of Women and Girls, 2016 ). The move allowed the LGBT group to have direct access to services offered by the department of justice on women exploitation ( The White House Council of Women and Girls, 2016 ).
The laws are narrow in their scope considering that the American population is transforming because of the increasing immigration. The legislations should be remodeled to cover the interest of those coming in and the male citizens who may be assumed or thought to be comfortable yet are facing silent violence.
