Leadership is a virtue where a person takes the front position in undertaking certain tasks. A person with this skill is at the forefront in identifying a problem and trying to formulate solutions.

However, the best form of leadership is where a person commits to serve people without considering the position held. Those exercising servant leadership will strive to uplift people working under them instead of commanding them to undertake certain tasks.

This form of leadership is different from the traditional one where a person at the top accumulates more power than the rest of the workforce. Servant leadership has various advantages like building a sense of purpose and belonging, unleashing hidden potential and talents among workers, and encouraging creativity.

There is also harmony between the management and workers and thus easier decision-making and solution formulation.

Feedback

Feedback is a reaction towards certain stimuli like a message or a performance. It is an integral part of communication as it expresses what a person feels about a particular issue. There are various advantages an organization can derive from feedback generated between the management and the workforce. First, feedback helps workers to achieve their goals. A servant leader strives to address issues their juniors raise and thus will always strive to get their feedback on various occasions. This action will be critical in removing barriers that may stand between workers and their goals. Secondly, feedback helps in building trust and harmony between leaders and their juniors. A good leader creates an avenue to allow giving or receiving feedback on various issues. Therefore, it is easier to identify an issue that may bring a conflict between workers and the management. Lastly, feedback allows each employee to take personal responsibility by accounting for decisions or actions taken. Therefore, it would be easier to detect a problem and its source.

Mental models

The mental model encompasses a person’s thinking about how something operates in real life. An individual develops these thoughts by analyzing the surrounding. A leader can foresee how a particular event will occur by analyzing the preceding situations. There are various mental models a leader can use to get the desired results. First, a leader must have a full understanding of how things work in an organization. This knowledge will assist one to know the steps to take when trying to influence certain actions. It is also important to understand how certain events occur in an organization to avert any misfortune that might occur. Lastly, a leader can follow the rules diligently when undertaking various tasks in trying to avoid mistakes. Following regulations aligns one to the goals and objectives of the organization and thus one can predict the outcomes of a particular action.

System thinking

System thinking is a model which analyses how different parts of a system work to bring a particular outcome. According to proponents of this theory, various components must integrate for the system to work in a certain direction. In an organizational setting, a leader must identify different parts and integrate them to achieve particular objectives. Some of these components include the workforce, management, and resources. First, a leader needs to understand the causes and levels of complexities in an organization. Those levels may include the external world, a leader’s strategies and actions, organizational consciousness, and problem-identification. The second way a leader can use system thinking is by controlling dynamic complexities in an organization. This strategy involves comprehending how various activities occur in an organization. One can manage those complexities by identifying an underlying problem and how it relates to different systems in an organization.
