A fundraiser refers to the organized event of raising funds that are intended to address particular needs, services, programs, and benefits that may not be obvious. In this case, the fundraiser could be recognized as pooling of financial resources that will be used to help others. The majority of the funds collected will enable the beneficiary to feel less helpless and more empowered to achieve a particular goal. For instance, in the setting of government, there are numerous budget cuts that may take place due to lack of a healthy economy ( 7 Great Reasons , 2017). However, rather than leave the healthcare of children with congenital heart diseases to chance, a group of like-minded individuals come together to seek assistance from the public. The lives of many children in the country will be saved primarily by the efforts of such individuals. In some cases, the affected parties will participate in the raising of funds.

Fundraising has multiple benefits other than the obvious ones that are used to establish the purpose of the event or organization. As previously mentioned, there are cases where the recipients of the funds participate in raising the required amount (Love, 2017). In this practice, the beneficiaries are empowered to feel some pride of ownership. Through engagement in various activities, these children feel that they have earned the funds provided and not that it was merely charity. Their participation demonstrates the necessary persistence from the organizing members of the fundraiser with the intent of identifying and targeting the prospective donors (Love, 2017). Each of the donors has the available funds and close association with the issue in question. Despite an endless stream of snubs and negative responses, the children will feel capable of overcoming their struggles once they are able to attain the set goal. The response of silence is common among donors, which may cause a significant setback, but once the program is underway there are endless possibilities of its benefits.

The modern political structure has seen a shift in power from the elected leaders to the rich corporations and their respective owners. As a result, the measure being implemented is to “do more with less”, which has shaped schools and communities alike. In the recent times, with more students dependent on the public schools, it is essential that high funding be provided to assist in the delivery of a holistic education (Meegan, 2009). Lack of funds from the usual source, government, means that children are more likely to miss out on various childhood experiences as programs that are considered non-essential are cut almost immediately. The events like field trips to the Capitol building, Smithsonian Museum, or Concerts are significant milestones that an individual should not miss (Garecht, 2013). Through fundraising, individuals united with a common cause can lead and champion against the influence of these corporations.

Despite the status of the individual in a fundraising program, the primary motivating factor for joining is experiencing a close connection with the issue at hand. Parents, children, colleagues, and family members alike point out that the civic minded activity creates a sense of responsibility and self-empowerment (Wooster, 2014). It is important that members of the community engage in such practices from a tender age as they would please. The critical importance is to build an appreciation for the various aspects of their life that would be considered as good luck. As a result, the individual is able to recognize those who have little, inadequate, or completely nothing and offer a helping hand. The common saying states that no man is an island, and through fundraisers all the factors that make human beings different and diverse are used to create cohesion rather than separation of the people.
