San Francisco receives most of its rain from October through April, experiencing a relatively dry winter. Temperature throughout the year are steady, reaching a maximum of 106 o F at the start of winter and a low of during the summer. Winter in Scottsbluff is not dry like in San Francisco, with the region experiencing most rain from May throughout the winter. It is also at this period when the temperatures reach the peak, with a maximum of 109 o F recorded in July. On the other hand, my nearest city Austin, Texas, experiences steady rain all year long, and a varying temperature which reaches peak high of 109 in July during the winter.

Mean annual precipitation values for Austin, Texas and annual mean temperature by the chromatograph are similar to those provided by the climate maps. This may because they use similar characteristics for their measurements.

San Gabriel Watershed is 8, 182 square kilometers in size. It has a mean slope of 11.3324 degrees with a high of 66.4656 degrees and an elevation of 3479.37 meters. Majority of the land is urban with shrub land and grassland taking the other huge area of the land. Forests cover an area of 11 percent and a small 0.6 percent of the land being barren. The dam is used in many activities in the region including irrigation, recreation and to support fish and marine life.
