According to the source, items are made up of atoms. These atoms interact most of the time through what we could call as touching, but further analysis shows that it is not really possible to touch anything. This is so because of the electrons which are inside atoms. Electrons have the same charge hence there is repulsion. Even when we tear things apart, it is simply another force of electrons forcefully pushing others apart. This means that what we know as touching is a feeling conceptualized by the nerves on our bodies. Therefore when one sits on a chair, they are not actually touching it. There needs to be an interaction of the atoms in that to fully touch, one's atoms should affect the nucleus of another atom. This said it could only be an individual's children and parents are the only ones who have been touched by the individual. 

Plants use energy from the sun to be able to synthesize the cells. Carbon dioxide from the air is split by the sun into carbon and oxygen. The oxygen is expelled as a byproduct. The carbon combines with water and as such forms the substance that is plants. The water comes from the air too since condensed air forms water which comes down as rain. Essentially, it can be said that plants come out of the air because the components that make it are from the air. The additional components such as salts and minerals come from the ground. It is stated that oxygen and carbon exist differently in the air, but if these particles come close enough, they can recombine. Thus fire emerges when the wood which contains carbon comes into contact with oxygen at a fast rate of collision, they combine, and there is fast action and jiggling of all the molecules in the piece of wood. The light that comes out is called fire, but in reality, it is the sun's rays that initially split carbon dioxide. The light that comes out is the sun's energy, and thus it can be used to cause the agitation of other molecules. This explains how we can use fire to boil a cup of coffee.
