Explanation of Mathematics Forms

Mathematics has evolved throughout history with the development of different forms. Most of these forms emerged after the invention of the Roman numerals. These mathematics forms include algebra, combinatorics, number theory, and calculus. The mathematical form known as algebra derived its formation from treatise which provided the systematic solution for both quadratic and linear equations. Another form of mathematics which was discovered after roman numerals are the combinatorics which is related to other forms of mathematics such as statistical mathematics and mathematical logic. There was the development of some powerful combinatorics equations at the end of the twentieth century making the form an independent branch of mathematics. Calculus was discovered in the mid-17th Century. Calculus is concerned with functions, limits, integrals, derivatives as well as infinite series.

Formation and Use of Statistics

The concept of statistics was developed in a progression from step to step. It started with the discussion of probability theory in 1657 by Christiaan Huygens. After the discussion of the probability theory, there was a discussion of errors by Roger Cotes in 1722. Then it was last advanced by other intellectuals in the 20th Century who reached the level of probability axioms (Bachelor, Lehrender, & Mihoci, n.d). The formation of statistics shows that it’s a discipline which was derived from various mathematical contexts and concepts. Statistics are of importance in everyday life in that the concept is used in conducting a study about a given topic through collection, organization, and interpretation of the data for clear presentation. There are two methods involved in the use of statistics these include descriptive which entails a summary of data from a sample using standard deviation and mean. Also, there is the application of inferential statistics which derives their findings from random variations.

Formation of Pi and How it is used

The formation of Pi came as a result of the need for the calculation of the ratio between the diameter and the circumference of a circle. Calculation and formation of a correct value of pie took many mathematicians time and energy especially before the advent of computers. The considered the most accurate value of pi was derived by D.F Fergusson. In 1945, Ferguson calculated Pi to 620 digits. However, earlier before that there was a calculation by William Shanks who got 707 digits out of which only 527 digits were proved to be correct. Trigonometry is applied on many occasions and the solution of many mathematically related problems. Geometry is used in the development and designing of the geographical maps. There are the basic components of trigonometry such as cos and cosine which are applied in the description of both the light and sound waves. Geometry is used in the modern world in the calculation and generation of grasp hypothesis. Also, the geometry can be used in the generation of datasets with the purpose of learning the algorithms (Ten Pas & Platt, 2018). The application of geometry is important in the development of algorithms which are used in the grasps concepts in the robots.

Application of Mathematics in the Modern World especially the Workplace

There is the application of mathematics in various workplaces in the world over. Mathematical concepts especially numeracy have been proved to be important in the development of critical thinking which is an important skill in the 21st century. Mathematical concepts such as statistics are essential in the workplace as it can be applied in the interpretation of data. With the globalization, big data is one of the major challenges business organizations contend with. With mathematically competent employees, interpretation and solving data problems become easy.

How Mathematics is Used in Space Travel

Mathematics is a vital component used by astronauts in space travel. First, it is used to determine precise mathematical calculations in regard to how the space specialists pilot the craft to how the craft leaves the earth surface. It is within the technology of mathematics that the designers of the space machine determine the speed, time and distance. Importantly they determine through mathematical analysis the velocity and their safety. An example is in the determination of the speed and time in which a given spacecraft will take in a specific trip.
