Summary of Henry Hudson and the Catskill Gnomes
Henry sailed with his crew in the New York River heading north. They intended was to trade and explore. The first night, they stopped at the foot of the Catskill Mountain where they heard some music from a distance from a group of pigmies who welcomed them with a local brew singing the nine-pines song. The brew transformed his crewmen as gnomes. Hudson leaves with the remaining crewmen back to the boat and spent the night there and in the morning they climbed Catskill Mountain. In the morning, on their way home, they were trapped in ice and never seen again for twenty years.
Summary of rip Van Winkle
The story goes about a colonial Dutch American man who sleeps in the forest at the foot of Catskill Mountain. He was a good hunter who could not tolerate his nagging wife. In the Catskill Mountain, he encounters a group of men in ragged clothes who were singing the nine-pines song and taking a local brew. It turns to be the spirit of Henry Hudson and his crew. After twenty years, rip wakes up from the dream just to find the American Revolution won and his wife dead. His friend Peter recognizes him while he decides to leave with his daughter returning to idling.
