Evidently, a bribe can be seen as a way of receiving money or any item of value so as to influence actions of an individual in charge of public or legal duties. As a consequence of giving a bribe leads to making decisions for the wrong reasons. Corruption in worst cases can cost people their lives. There has been a culture of corruption especially in organizations where their growth is massive, insecurity is rampant and high performance and individuals morality goes unquestioned. In this paper, we are going to discuss causes of corruption and what can be done based on the article ‘a potentially shocking revelation'.
According to our article, we meet Geraldene Jones who works at a nursing facility. She is determined to do her best so as to get a promotion in her job. The company decides to expand its physical plant and Jones volunteers to be responsible for the building program. She vows to make it a success so as to get a chance of a promotion. It's here that she learns about the culture of corruption. Here corruption seems like a necessity of daily life. For example, the electrical contractor told Jones that the county electrical inspector needed just to be bribed and he would allow him not to follow all the county electrical codes. He also made it clear that it was common in the construction field. Here the electrical contractor seems to have fear or have a perceived pressure of finishing the job in time hence decides to bribe the officer. The contractor seems ignorant of the work ethics and makes the company at a risk in case of an accident or fault that can happen due to not following the county electrical codes.it can also be seen that the facility has pressurized employees to meet high targets by promising them reward such as promotion thus making them vulnerable to corruption.

Apparently, difficult decisions will always occur in a different situation. In order to improve the confidence of workers to make the right decision, the senior management should lead by example by not tolerating any kind of bribery. Secondly, the employer should support the staff if they fail to reach their targets but have done the right thing. Having a simple system may reduce corruption. A system that is complicated and involving large number authorities has the likelihood of resulting in corrupt means so as to expedite the process. In conclusion, it is evident that to fight corruption is not easy and calls for good ethical morals in workplaces. To end this menace all stakeholders including the employer and the employee need cooperate since one cannot end it alone.
